Port of NEOM give presentation the IMO on the side-lines of Council 129



In the presence of His Excellency Dr. Rumaih Al-Rumaih, Deputy Minister of Transport and Logistic Services and President of the Transport General Authority, and Secretary-General of the International Maritime Organization Mr. Kitack Lim, NEOM presented on the side-lines of the 129th Council at IMO HQ in London 20/07/2023. Mr Sean Kelly, Managing Director of Port of NEOM introduced and outlined the progress towards the creation of the revolutionary port.


NEOM is strategically located on the crossroads of the world and is a cutting-edge industrial powerhouse. The Port of NEOM which is situated in OXAGON redesigns port and logistic facilitation from the ground up. The Port of NEOM works to achieve a main pillar of Vision2030 building Saudi Arabia’s role as an integral driver of international trade. OXAGON will establish a next-generation sustainable port with a fully integrated supply chain system.


OXAGON will be one of the world’s most advanced and sustainable ports featuring the world’s only fully automated port and aims to be the most technologically efficient and sustainable port globally. All equipment will be electric powered with energy management operated by an optimized AI. It will also have zero disposal into the marine environment and will feature a marine research centre to further understanding of the Red Sea environment.


Mr Sean Kelly, explained to the IMO Member States, “In line with NEOM's strategy and the Saudi Ports Authority's efforts to transform local ports into globally competitive logistics hubs, Port of NEOM will be a catalyst for broader economic development in the region, with sustainability and technology at its core."


The Port of NEOM demonstrates the Kingdoms ambitions to build on cooperation and trade within the maritime sector. It is actively working to develop itself as a centre for logistics and sustainability for the future.
