Riyadh Begins Expansion with Agility Logistics

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is working with Agility Logistics to begin a major expansion to its logistics park in the city of Riyadh. This marks the final phase of the company's development of their logistics park warehousing complex. This endeavor represents a significant investment and is set to complement the company's existing warehouses in Riyadh and Dammam, a third complex is planned to be constructed near Jeddah in the foreseeable future. This construction has taken place in collaboration with the Royal Commission for Riyadh City (RCRC), the Ministry of Investment (MISA), and the Riyadh region municipality. The partnership with Agility Logistics and the construction of the logistics park demonstrates Saudi’s ongoing commitment to meeting its Vision 2030 goals of positioning the country as a global logistics hub.

The warehouse being constructed by Agility Logistics is set to operate through state-of-the-art design. Michel Saab, global CEO of Agility Logistics stated that the expansion was all about increasing operational capacity and it represented a substantial contribution to the growth of the Kingdom’s logistics market. This will allow international companies to invest in the growth of Saudi Arabia and put in place crucial infrastructure that is helping the country achieve its goals. The Kingdom is positioned on a crucial point on the red sea, a place that joins three continents and through which an estimated 13% of the world's trade passes through. Through investments in its Logistics sector the Kingdom intends to build itself as a logistics hub that can support trade on a global scale.

The new warehousing facilities, a hallmark of sustainability and modern logistics, are expected to create 300 new jobs for Saudis and will offer storage, distribution, processing, and fulfillment services for some of the country’s leading consumer, industrial, and e-commerce brands. In 2022, one of Agility’s warehouses in Riyadh became the first building in Saudi Arabia to earn EDGE Advanced certification for energy efficiency, highlighting Agility’s commitment to sustainable infrastructure. The International Finance Corp, an arm of the World Bank, oversees the EDGE certification system, which stands for Excellence in Design for Greater Efficiencies and serves as the global standard for energy-efficient buildings.

The Kingdom is committed to implementing sustainable technology into its growth plans to help to create a Maritime industry that protects the natural environment as well as being profitable.

The Kingdom is not only enhancing its logistics capabilities but also aligning with Vision 2030’s objectives of positioning Saudi Arabia as a global logistics hub. By embracing energy-efficient standards like the EDGE Advanced certification and creating new job opportunities for Saudis, this project highlights a forward-looking approach that balances economic growth with sustainability.
