Saudi Arabia Hosts Inaugural Seafarers’ Forum

On the 7th of November 2024, Saudi Arabia’s Transport General Authority (TGA) held its first annual Seafarers’ Forum in Dammam, marking a milestone for the country’s maritime industry. The event brought together seafarers, shipping companies, and maritime specialists, including attendance by the National Maritime Academy (NMA), and exemplifies Saudi Arabia’s commitment to enhancing international maritime standards. The forum served as a platform for industry stakeholders to discuss key challenges and opportunities in the maritime sector through the development of collaboration and understanding across the industry. Specialists in maritime transport shared their expertise on a range of topics, from safety and sustainability to evolving regulatory standards. By hosting such an event, the TGA showcased Saudi Arabia’s proactive approach to addressing critical issues in the maritime industry and underscored its intent to shape the sector’s future. The forum also highlighted Saudi Arabia’s strategic vision, as it works to strengthen its influence within the IMO and support sustainable development within the maritime field.
