The Fifth Saudi Maritime and Logistics Congress Begins




The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will host the prestigious fifth edition of the Saudi Maritime and Logistics Congress commences on the 18th-19th of September 2024 in Dammam. The event is held under the patronage of His Excellency Eng. Saleh bin Nasser Al-Jasser Minister of Transport and Logistic Services. A number of other influential stakeholders are confirmed for attendance such as Bahri CEO Ahmed Alsubaey, IMI CEO Abdullah Al-Ghamdi and Transport General Authority Deputy for Maritime Transport Eng. Essam M. Alammari. This event showcases the strides Saudi is taking to position itself as a global logistics hub and a leader in the maritime industry. The congress will give the opportunity for cooperation and communication between industry professionals and facilitate discussions that will build on growth in the sector.  

 

The Saudi Maritime and Logistics Congress has been brought together by its founding partners Bahri and Seatrade Maritime. Since the establishment, other leading entities in the Kingdom have supported the growth of the conference such as, MAWANI, The Saudi Ports Authority and the Transport Generals Authority (TGA), as well as strategic partnerships with Saudi Aramco and International Maritime Industries (IMI). The conference anticipates more than 10,000 attendees from across 70+ countries: in addition to a record 200+ exhibitors and scores of local, regional and international speakers. 

 

The keynote address will be from H.E. Eng. Saleh bin Nasser Al-Jasser, Minister of Transport and Logistics Services as well as an international virtual address from the Secretary General of the International Maritime Organization Arsenio Dominguez. The conference will then host a variety of panels discussing vital topics such as; interconnected logistics and the supply chain of the future; shipbuilding and repair; digitization of maritime: The adoption of AI and machine learning; offshore safety: The importance of maintaining world-class safety standards; and energy transition for a sustainable future and workforce development. 

 

The Maritime and Logistics Congress demonstrates the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s leadership on the international stage. As a Council Member of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) Saudi Arabia seeks to pave the way for collaboration and innovative development between Member States. These efforts align with the IMO’s objectives of working towards a more sustainable maritime industry through cooperation.
