In addition, the Transport General Authority, in cooperation with the General Directorate of Border Guards and the College of Maritime Studies at King Abdualaziz University undertook a marine march and parade to mark the day. World Maritime Day allows for reflection of the Kingdom’s advances made in creating a future of sustainable marine sector and promoting Saudi Arabia as a key logistics hub in order to achieve Vision 2030.

At the International Maritime Organization’s Headquarters in London, the Secretary-General Kitack Lim hosted a reception attended by Saudi Arabia alongside other IMO member states. The reception highlighted the IMO’s 2022 theme of “New Technologies for Greener Shipping” to support a green transition of the maritime sector into a sustainable future. Saudi Arabia has embraced this theme through multiple initiatives and partnerships including the IMO CARES and other agreements to advance the maritime logistic transportation in the Kingdom planned and currently under implementation.
